I’ve expressed my reservations (okay, disgust) over the involvement of Death Cab for Cutie in the Twilight sequel soundtrack. But I did hear rumblings that the soundtrack had quite a formidable lineup so a little part of me is hoping that Death Cab did make the right decision after all. More »
The Strokes has not released a new album since 2006’s First Impressions of Earth, and even with the band announcing in different online and print publications this year that they are ready to record material for their fourth album, no firm release date has been set. More »
I first heard of Death Cab for Cutie in the late 90’s and for a long time the band was one of my best kept secrets. I took a lot of pleasure from listening to a band that, at the time, not a lot of people knew.
Oh, but times have changed. More »

There’s been a frenzy of reissues and over the last few years, a trend that has been welcomed by music fans and record collectors. The releases will surely be embraced by Morrissey fans. But if it was up to the Moz himself he wouldn’t want his fans to buy these releases. “If music be the food of the soul then you should eat right”
This is the raison d’etre of Red Tropic. We want this blog to become the source and resource of the serious music fan and collector. This blog is for the music geek who appreciates a wide range of music, whose only prejudice is quality and the importance of good music in art and the way we live.
We’ll give you fresh news, insightful reviews and even thought-provoking commentary on what’s happening in music. We’ll even throw in those crazy lists that everyone laps up. A music blog is nothing though without a healthy community of like-minded enthusiasts so feel free to speak your mind in the comments section. Contribute by recommending any significant artist or album you’ve heard lately — be it a new release or an oldie.
Let Red Tropic be the soundtrack to your soul.
Consider Red Tropic as the platter of goodness on which it is served. We want Red Tropic to be the source and resource of the serious music fan and collector- one who appreciates what each music genre has to offer without prejudice and has a wanton disregard for what is “cool” or “hip”.
