The 5 Hottest Holiday Albums of 2011

One of the things I love most about the holiday season is the special genre of music, filled with both old and new tunes. I love listening to old favorites, classic orchestras, and even some of today’s newest artists as they try to put a spin on favorites done by some of the best in years past. Holiday music, whether religious or simply mushy, will always hold a special place in my heart. That’s why I was so excited to find so many hot new holiday albums ready for release this year. Here are just 5 I am positive you’ll love.

A Holiday Carole: Carole King

Carole King has certainly made a name for herself within the music industry – part of why I’m so excited to see her releasing some tracks with her own voice instead of lyrics for others to sing. This album features lots of favorites, including My Favorite Things and Carol of the Bells, as well as several tunes you may not be familiar with. If you love Tapestry, you’ll love this album as well. The album will be released on November 1st.

Under the Mistletoe: Justin Beiber

This album has been the talk of the town for ages – mainly because Justin Beiber’s people were brilliant enough to release just one sample track to some major radio stations. The buzz about this album has been outrageous and the general reaction is one of pleasant surprise. Apparently Justin Beiber has the ability to break away from bubble gum pop and can really churn out some classics like the old pros. Even those who are tired of hearing their kids sing Bieber tunes may be amazed.

Christmas Symphony: Mannheim Steamroller

No holiday collection is complete without the newest release for Mannheim Steamroller. Not familiar with this stellar group? You will recognize their tunes as the background to many famous holiday videos – namely the ones with holiday house lights flashing to the rhythm. This year you’ll enjoy new renditions of Deck the Halls, Greensleeves, Little Drummer Boy, and tons of other favorites.

Christmas: Michael Buble

This Canadian artist has certainly made a name for himself and he’s not letting the holiday season slow him down. He said in an interview that he’s always dreamed of recording the “ultimate Christmas record” and it seems he’s done just that. I already have a copy of this album on my shelf and all I can say is that I may just end up listening to Michael’s renditions of It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, All I want for Christmas is You, and White Christmas throughout the entire year.

The Ultimate Christmas Album: Dave Koz

If jazz is your thing, than this album by Dave Koz is one you simply must not miss. Relax, light some candles, make a romantic dinner to enjoy with someone you love, and enjoy the holiday season with some of the sweetest saxophone vibes you’ve heard in ages.

Don’t let me sway your decision. There are dozens of other hot holiday albums coming out this year. All I can say, though, is that none of these will disappoint you. I promise!

Setsuko Shulda loves holiday music and if you walk into your office you’ll hear it playing for the next 2 months straight. When not engrossed in tunes, Setsuko works hard to find jobs for physical therapists in her region.
