Santigold to produce Devo

Santigold’s self-titled debut album (Santogold) was my personal soundtrack for 2008. Her album was on constant rotation on my stereo system at hom and on my iPod whenever I’m out or driving. Her hip-hop/electro-clash/rock mashup was an inspired creative work that made people take notice of her talents.

Two years after the release of Santogold, I still go back and listen to her album often. It’s very rare to hear an album that continues to sound as fresh as when you first listened to it. It’s unfortunate that she still hasn’t released a follow-up to her debut album. I’m eagerly looking forward to whatever she will release. Right now, Santigold fans can just get their fix by tracking down her collaborations with other artists. And for 2010 she may have found the ultimate collaboration.

In an article in Paste Magazine, Santi has revealed that she will be producing New Wave pioneers Devo. Santigold fans will know that she has professed that Devo is her “ultimate favorite band.” This kind of enthusiasm is surely going to transfer to their collaboration together. There’s no word yet on where this collaboration will appear but I’m surely going to keep my eyes peeled for this.

And what about a new Santigold album? Rejoice because she’s already working on it with a possible release this year!
