Radiohead’s Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail… to get “hefty” reissue

Radiohead has already made its big anti-corporate statement by leaving a major label (Capitol) and releasing In Rainbows on its own. What Radiohead did is quite ballsy and admirable. By removing the major label muscle in its network, the band will have to do all of the nitty-gritty of music distribution on its own. If In Rainbows is any indication though, the band looks like it will succeed and besides, if there’s any artist that can actually do well as an independent it would be Thom Yorke and the boys.

But even though Radiohead has escaped the big corporate cheese, the corporate stiffs are not yet ready to let go of Radiohead. Capitol released a greatest hits compilation without the approval of the band and just last March, the first three Radiohead albums – Pablo Honey, The Bends and OK Computer, were released in two- and three-disc versions with generally favorable reviews (hey, it’s Radiohead after all!).

Mark your calendars Radiohead fanboy, Capitol is not yet done. On August 25, the company will finally complete its Radiohead reissues by releasing Kid A, Amnesiac and Hail to The Thief. Just like the past reissues, these releases will be packed with B-sides and other rarities that will surely make any music collector drool.  I know I’ll be getting these babies when they come out.

The problem will be how to stretch my budget because the complete Beatles’ remasters will be coming out the following month!
